Jajpur, Feb 20 (LocalWire): Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has inaugurated a slew of infrastructure development projects in Jajpur during his whirlwind tour of the district on Tuesday.
He has launched a total of 252 projects and laid foundation stones for 18 other ventures, worth Rs 622 crores. The projects include building of houses, roads and bridges, among others.
The chief minister’s massive announcements in Jajpur are seen as an attempt to win back voters ahead of the crucial general elections schedule later this year.
Patnaik inaugurated nine bridges at Datapur, Nuapatana, Kantitara, Agrakalata, Bhagamara, Kabatabandha, Nuahata, Khadianga and Imamnnagar.
He also inaugurated 77 Angaganwadi centers, 30 community development centers, among many other projects.
Addressing public meetings at Dasarathapur, Dharmasala and Binjharapur, the chief minister said his government launched the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme for farmers, landless labourers and share croppers.
The scheme also has provision of giving financial assistance of Rs 25,000 per family over five seasons so that farmers can purchase inputs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and use assistance towards labour and other investments, he said.
“A landless agriculture worker is eligible to get Rs 12,500 in three installments for livelihood activities like goatery, backyard poultry, poultry, apiculture, mushroom cultivation, duckery and fishing kits,” he added.
He criticized the union government for not including landless farmers and share croppers under the new PM- KISAN scheme.
Patnaik was accompanied by Bari MLA Debashis Nayak, Barachana MLA Amar Prasad Satapathy, Korei MLA Akash Das, Dharmasala MLA Pranab Kumar Balabantaray, Jajpur MLA Pranab Das and others.
