Balasore, October 14 (LocalWire): In a case of stillborn here, the aggrieved family of the woman has filed an FIR of negligence against the duty doctor of the district headquarter hospital here.
The relatives of the woman alleged that the baby died in the womb due to sheer negligence of the doctor.
Tension prevailed in the hospital after the child was delivered as dead.
Meanwhile, the authorities have initiated an inquiry and set up a four-member team to ascertain the reasons for the death of the child, and whether there was any negligence on the part of the doctor.
According to sources, Suman Giri of village Sakulpur, Parakhi under Sadar police station limits was admitted to the DHH on Saturday night.
The duty doctor, Sagar Mohapatra visited her around 11.45 pm and following the check-up had assured the family members of normal delivery within three hours.
Around 12 am, however, the pregnant woman began to experience severe pain and though she was screaming, neither any doctor nor nurse came to see her, Suman’s husband Harekrishna Giri alleged.
The next day, on Sunday, when Dr RK Baral visited the hospital around 9 am the dead child was delivered.
The aggrieved family members and relatives alleged that the woman was crying in labour pain yet no doctor was available, and as a result, the child met an untimely death.
After receiving the complaint, the Town police have registered a case in the matter.
