Bhubaneswar, May 1 (LocalWire): As many as 81 trains were cancelled and two diverted in view of cyclone Fani, expected to hit Odisha coast on Friday, officials said.
According to an official announcement made here, the step was taken keeping in kind the “safety and security of passengers”.
Rail passengers have also been advised to reschedule their journey accordingly as most of the trains passing through the affected area have either been cancelled or diverted.
The important trains that have been cancelled include East Coast Express, Coromandal Express, Patna Ernaculam Express, Howrah-Chennai Mail, Rajdhani Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Duraonto Express, Garib Rath Express and Paradeep-Puri Express.
The Odisha government has been on high alert to deal with any eventuality and thousands of people have already been to safer places in view of the impending cyclone.
