Jagatsinghpur May 18 (LocalWire): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has complained of large irregularities in distribution of relief materials to Fani affected people in Naugaon block.
It is easy to get supplies even for a “dead person” with a ration card but not for a genuine victim, it alleged, adding that free rice, cash, kerosene and polythene are still to reach the actual victims.
BJP leader Pratap Mishra and Jamugaon sarpanch Lalatendu Parida have jointly submitted a memorandum to Jagatsinghpur commissioner Saswat Mishra for early relief and restoration work in Nuagaon block. The petition was also submitted to Naugaon BDO and the tahsildar’s office.
They claimed the affected people were denied relief materials because they don’t have ration cards. And as a result, they are forced to live in the open and exposed to the elements of nature.
Polythene sheets are being provided to the affected as part of relief materials so they could build a makeshift tent as a temporary relief in case they have lost their katcha houses in the storm.
“Many people who are not eligible are also getting relief materials. Even dead persons who have ration cards have received relief materials with the knowledge of government officials,” Mishra alleged.
