Bhubaneswar, Sept 25 (LocalWire): Several farmer outfits who were not satisfied with the recent controversial legislations passed in the Parliament today were on streets to protest against it.
Navnirman Krushak Sangha, Bhartiya Kisan Union, All India Farmers Union and All India Kisan Mahasangha and other such bodies today protested at Master Canteen in the state capital to mark their protest.
Their attempt to impose Bharat Bandh in the state was however made futile by the intervention of the police force.
Several of these protesters thronged the protest site in the city to raise their voices. However with not much direct support from the major parties directly, it could not evoke a major impact on everyday life in the state.
Odisha Congress leader Suresh Routray however said that the recent legislations were anti farmers and the NDA government must roll back those controversial bills. “I support the protests organized across the country on the issue,” he said. The support of the Congress party however mostly remained mostly moral in the agitation.
The BJP however countered the protests and said that the protesters were not farmers. “Those who are protesting are not farmers.
Some political parties with vested interests are diverting the attention. Infact farmers are happy with the bills we brought in,” Odisha BJP spokesperson Prithiviraj Harichandan said.
