Bhubaneswar, April 8 (Local Wire): Odisha government on Wednesday said that the farmers from the state can continue their farming activities during the lock down.
It however cautioned them to ensure social distancing during their works.
A statement from the government on Wednesday said that they can undertaken their farming activities or Rabi season despite the lock down in place.
“Farming operations by farmers and farm workers in the field are allowed for ongoing Rabi and preparatory activities for coming Kharif season,” it said.
It also added, “Harvesting of agricultural produce including fruits and vegetables is to continue with labour engagement while maintaining social distancing,”
The government also said that marketing and transportation of agricultural inputs, agricultural and horticultural products to markets both intra and interstate are permitted without any restrictions by retailers and transporters.
The government has given green signal to allow the outlets selling seeds, fertilsers and pesticides to keep themselves open sans restrictions during the period.
