Bhubaneswar, Nov 16 (LocalWire) The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to slap penalty on those found defecating and urinating in open spaces.
Defecation in the open will attract a penalty of Rs.200 while it will be Rs.150 for urinating on the open.
The fine is imposed in accordance with the solid waste management bye-laws, 2018.
The penalty clauses of the bye-law are being implemented to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the city, a BMC officials said.
For defecation purpose, the BMC has built adequate number of community toilets spread across the city which have been renovated with round the clock water supply.
Therefore, people are being appealed to refrain from unhealthy open defecation, said the official.
Squads are being constituted to keep tab on it.
It will be implemented shortly. An official order has already been issued in this regard, added the official.
