Bhubaneswar, November 23( LocalWire) The fire fighters and cops have received praises for thwarting the suicide bid of a man in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The group of sixty fire service and police personnel thwarted the suicide bid of a mentally challenged man from a 110 feet tall building at the Utkal University campus here yesterday.
“It was five hours of grueling exercise” a senior fire department official said.
The rescue team deserved all kudos. The act by the rescuers was a judicious blending of dutifulness, courage, concentration besides utmost patience, he said.
Some of the rescuers risked their lives during the course of saving the man.
We felicitated them yesterday evening, Home minister Dibya Shankar Mishra said.
The government is considering confer them recognition in the form of some incentive for their tremendous show of sincerity towards duty, he added.
Subodh Naik, a native of Prajarajpur village in Kendrapara district had climbed to the top the Parija library building giving fire brigade personnel and police personnel a tough time for about five hours.
Finally the rescuers had managed to grab the man to safety by hydraulic ladders after five hours of tense and grueling ordeal.
