Berhampur, Sept 16 (LocalWire): The first serological survey in Paralakhemundi-the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border town in Gajapati district will start from Wednesday.
The three-day survey will be conducted jointly by the Regional Medical Research Center (RMRC) Bhubaneswar of ICMR and the Gajapati administration.
The survey aims to know how many people of the border town have developed immunity against coronavirus.
The survey will also help to identify the number of people in the town who have been cured in the disease without showing any symptoms, sources said.
As many as 16 teams, consisting of the doctors, scientists and researchers will be involved in the proposed survey, while the officials of the district health department will assist the teams, said district collector Anupam Saha.
For the purpose, he said the district administration has erected 20 clusters taking all 16 wards of the town, he said.
“We have proposed to draw blood samples from 2000 people from different sections, 50 persons in each of the clusters for testing of the development of their antibodies,” said the collector.
Saha further said that they have asked the laboratory technicians, staff nurse, Asha and Anganwadi workers and Swachch Sathis of the municipality to extend their assistance to the survey teams, he added.
The district collector sought the cooperation of the people for the successful conduct of the survey.
Meanwhile, the number of the district’s Covid-19 cases has increased to 3175 with nine more people testing positive to the disease.
While seven of the fresh cases were detected during the surveillance, two others were undergoing treatment in the hospitals outside of the district, sources said.
