Bhubaneswar, June 25 (LocalWire): The first session of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly began today with the Governor’s address to the House.
The session started at 11 am with Governor Ganeshi Lal congratulating the new government for its fifth consecutive term and praising it for successfully tackling Cyclone Fani.
He also informed the House about the increase in medical assistance under the Biju Swastya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) for women. ‘Our women will now get Rs 10 lakh for their treatment instead of Rs 7 lakh under BSKY,’ he declared.
He also declared the government’s plan to link Cuttack with Bhubaneswar by metro railway.
The first phase of the Assembly will continue till 2 July and the second phase will begin from 12 July and end on 8 August.
State finance minister Niranjan Pujari will present the Budget on 28 June and the appropriation bill will be passed on 31 July.
