Kendrapara, Oct 25 (LocalWire): A fisherman went missing today evening when a fishing boat capsized in the sea near Hukitola Island under Jamboo marine police station of Kendrapara district.
The ill-fated vessel ventured into the sea with four crew members today morning.
When the boat was returning with catch in the evening, it encountered gusty winds and then capsized a kilometer before Hukitola Island.
Three fishermen jumped into the sea after the boat started capsizing and managed to swim towards the beach.
Search operation is on to trace the missing fisherman Tapan Das 28, of Jamboo village by the marine police and fisheries department.
But strong waves in the sea and incessant rains were hampering the rescue operation,’ said Manas Ranjan Sahoo, the additional director of Fishery (Marine) of Kujang.
The authorities had warned fishermen not to venture into the sea due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
But many fishermen ignored the order and ventured into the sea leading to such an unfortunate event, added the officer.
