Kendrapara, October 9 (Local Wire) Large numbers of marine fishermen of Kendrapara and its nearby areas have already anchored at the fishing harbours and jetties due to cyclone’ Titli’ alert.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
Many fishermen had returned to shore on Tuesday, following the cyclone warning.
The skies remained overcast throughout the day. The strong wind blowing at sea kept most of the fishermen on shore.
The sea was marginally rough and due to the cyclone warning, hundreds of boats in the jetties at Kharinashi, Jamboo, Kajalapatia, Bahakuda and Talachua in the district remained anchored in the jetties.
“We are fishermen, we expect bad weather, but the continuous low pressure in the sea ruined our lives,” said Maheswar Mandal a fisherman of Batighar.
Nearly 650 trawlers and around 3000 fishing boats had already returned from the sea at the district and its nearby areas on Tuesday.
“Through loudspeakers, we are warning fishermen against venturing into the sea,” said Manas Ranjan Sahoo, additional director of fisheries (marine) department, Kujang.
” The authorities are working with local Sarapanchas and other panchayat body members to help people prepare for the cyclone in the seaside villages of Rajnagar, Mahakalapada and Rajkanika blocks, ” said the district collector of Kendrapara, Dasarathi Satapathy.
