Bhubaneswar, March 14 (LocalWire): Five people have been killed in road accidents in different parts of Odisha, police said on Thursday.
Three bikers were killed after a speeding truck ran over them on NH-18 at Dantimuha Chhak near Betnoti in Mayurbhanj. The driver fled from the spot after the accident.
The deceased were identified as Dhan si, Gal Si and Mang Si of Rangapani village.
They were on their way to attend a relative’s funeral on Wednesday when the accident happened.
In another accident on the same day, a laborer was killed when a vehicle loaded with iron-batteries turned turtle at the NTPC’s Kaniha plant.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Mishra of Chendipada area.
Meanwhile, fellow laborers have demanded job and compensation to the family of the deceased.
Police have sent the body for post mortem.
In Kalahandi on Wednesday, a biker was killed and two others critically injured when two motorcycles collided head on near Tini Chhak. The injured were rushed to Dharmagarh hospital.
