Bhubaneswar, April 4 (LocalWire): At least five people were killed in separate road accidents in different parts of Odisha on Thursday, police said.
A married couple was killed after their Bolero car rammed into the rear of a truck at Palaspanga under in Keonjhar district. Another car occupant was critical injured and was admitted to Padmapur hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Ballabh Chandra Mahakud (55) and Bani Devi Mahakud (50) of Balani. Dense fog is suspected to be the reason behind the mishap.
In Balasore district, a helper of a bus was killed when his passenger vehicle hit a stationary truck early on Thursday on NH-16 at Barikapur.
The deceased has been identified as Manu Tudu (50) of Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.
The bus was heading towards Rairangpur from Bhubaneswar. All passengers are reportedly safe.
The accident took place when the truck was parked on the roadside for fitting a new tyre.
In another accident, one person was killed when the motorcycle that she was riding collided head on with a truck near Nehena village in Nuapada district.
The deceased has been identified as Payal Saraf. Her uncle Devraj Saraf, who was travelling with her, was seriously injured.
A youth died after the motorcycle he was riding rammed an electric pole on NH-57 near Rajanpali Chhak in Boudh district. The deceased has been identified as Shiva Prasad Raj.
