Berhampur, Dec 17 (LocalWire): Riddled with the problem of teachers producing fake certificates to secure their jobs, the Ganjam administration instructed the concerned block education officers today to lodge FIR against five teachers who were found guilty of the same.
‘Two of the assistant teachers are from Sheragada and Beguniapada and one from Kabisurya Nagar block.
The anomalies were detected after verification from the Board of Secondary Education, Cuttack, the certificate issuing agency,’ said district education officer (DEO) Sanatan Panda.
With the detection of the five frauds, the number of fake teachers rose to 21 as the administration had identified 16 of them earlier.
District Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said the district administration received allegation against 71 primary teachers who produced fake educational certificates.
The concerned BEOs have lodged FIRs against them in various police stations but no one has been arrested till date.
Meanwhile, at least 13 primary teachers resigned fearing legal action against them after the district administration launched the crackdown to identify fake teachers.
Some names were in the list of fake certificate cases, officials said.
The district administration, however, clarified that legal action would also be taken against those who resigned.
‘Even though the fake teachers resigned from the services, police action will be taken against them,’ Kulange said.
He said certificate verification of teachers is still going on.
It will take some time to find out who secured their job by providing fake certificates, he added.
