Bhubaneswar, Aug 26 (LocalWire) Former Odisha chief secretary Lalat Indu Parija on Monday died at a private hospital in Cuttack. He was 89.
The ex-bureaucrat had donned the mantle of Chief Secretary twice in 1983 and 1986 during J. B. Patnaik-led government.
Widely respected in bureaucrat circle, Parija, whose father Dr. Prana Krushna Parija was an internationally-acclaimed Botanist, was a man of many skills.
Besides being an able administrator, Parija was a gifted cricketer.
The cricket as a game had gained popularity in the state during the period when he led the State’s Ranji team.
He had also served as the Chairman, Orissa Public Service Commission.
People from various walks of life have condoled his death.
