Berhampur, March 8 (LocalWire): The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved setting up of 50 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) in the country, including four in Odisha.
The new schools in Odisha will be set up in Chhatrapur in Ganjam district, Anandpur and Champua in Keonjhar and Gunupur in Rayagada. Currently, the state has 61 Kendriya Vidyalayas.
A school principal said that the new schools may start function from temporary buildings from next academic session, till construction of permanent buildings is completed.
“We have allotted eight acres of land to set up of a new KV near Chhatrapur. However, till it’s ready, it will start operation from Onslow High School in Chhatrapur,” said a senior government officer.
“Students, who are studying in Ambapua KV, near Berhampur, will now get chance to study near their home,” said Ganjam district BJP member Pradeep Padhy.
He said that his party had submitted a memorandum to Union Human Resources Development Minister Praksh Javedkar during his last visit to Berhampur.
