Sambalpur, Jan 1 (LocalWire) Sambalpur will soon get its people connected to free Wi-Fi hotspot.
In the first stage, the district administration has selected Ring Road, which runs along Mahanadi river in the city. The free Wi-Fi zone will cover a 4 km stretch of Ring Road.
Sambalpur district collector Samarth Verma said: “In the first stage, the free Wi-Fi hotspot zone will be set up from Kachari Chowk to Gourisankar Sahani Park of Ring Road.”
“The Software Technology Park of India (STPI) has already prepared the Detailed Project Report and they will float the tender for this purpose within one week. The work on the project will begin once the work order is handed over to the firm, which will be selected in the tender process,” said Verma.
It is estimated that the work on making the stretch free Wi-Fi zone will take around sixty days to complete.
The estimated cost for making the stretch Wi-Fi zone is Rs 50 lakh.
“People will avail the internet at a speed of 50 mbps on this stretch once the project is materialised,” he said.
As the road runs along the Mahandi, a large number of people, including students, go there during morning and evening.
“They can use the internet free of cost in this place. Also, people visiting Gourisankar Sahani Park can browse the net,” said Verma.
