Berhampur. September 30 (Local Wire) Ganjam district authority has planned to sensitize issues related to child trafficking to railway police, auto driver, rickshaw puller and minibus driver to frequent visitors around Berhampur railway station.

He said this in a review meeting of the district child protection unit it at Chhatrapur on Saturday.
The decision of district administration assumed significance as the Childline along with the government railway police (GRP) had rescued as many as 487 children from the Berhampur railway station in last four months, said Sudhir Sabat, Director of Childline, Berhampur.
The children, most of them 12 to 16-year age group, were rescued while they were trying to traffic to other states by the traffickers, Sabat said.
In most of the cases, traffickers were escaped from the spot, when the Childline activists along with the GRP personnel tried to thwart their attempt.
Most of the rescued children belonged to tribal dominated areas of Kandhamal,Gajapati and Ganjam districts.
The traffickers generally lured the teenagers, mostly the young girls to provide a job with an attractive salary and accommodation facilities.
