Bhubaneswar, April 10 (Local Wire): Ganjam district has now got its maiden COVID testing facility on Friday as the MKCG Medical College at Berhampur got approval from Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to start its service.
Sanjay Singh, Secretary, Information and Public Relations (I&PR) said, “MKCG, Berhampur has got approval from ICMR now to start COVID testing.
The service will start from April 13. The lab there will test 25 samples in a day,”
He also added that that VIMSAR, Burla is also likely to start testing COVID 19 from April 15 with the capacity of 25 samples per day. On the other side, the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) which is now testing 350 samples per day will start testing 1000 samples per day with the improved infrastructure boost given by the government.
With the approval given to MKCG Medical College, Odisha has now two state government medical colleges offering COVID testing facility in addition to SCB Medical College, Cuttack.
