Berhampur, October 4 (Local Wire) Accommodation problem for girl students of Odisha Adarha Schools (Model Schools) in Ganjam district is set to be solved with the opening of at least a dozen hostels.
Each hostel will have seat capacity for 100 girl students and come up in 12 different blocks of the district.
“We are planning to open all the hostels during the current month,” said Sanatan Panda, district education officer (DEO).
The students belonging to scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST), minority communities and below poverty line (BPL) categories would be given priority to provide hostel accommodation, as per the guidelines of the government.
Students of Class IX and X would be given preference during seat allotments to these hostels, he added.
SC/ST students will get free accommodation and food, while other categories will have to pay Rs 800 per month per student to stay in these hostels, sources said.
