Berhampur, April 17 (LocalWire): Over 17.69 lakh voters, including 9.35 lakh male and 8.33 lakh female voters will decide the fate of 58 candidates in Ganjam district’s eight Assembly segments and one Lok Sabha seat in the second phase of polling on Thursday.
While eight candidates are in the fray in Aska Lok Sabha seat, 50 candidates are contesting in eight Assembly segments.
Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, rural development minister Bikram Arukh and two sitting MLAs of the ruling party are the prominent faces in this phase.
Naveen Patnaik and Arukh are seeking re-election for the fifth time from Hinjili and Bhanjanagara respectively.
The three-time BJD MLA from Aska, Debaraj Mohanty will also test his luck with a BJP ticket.
There are several new faces in the fray in this phase. All the candidates in Kabisurya Nagara, Khallikote (SC) Assembly segment are contesting for the first time.
Similarly the candidates from Aska Lok Sabha seat are also first timers.
