Berhampur, July 11 (LocalWire): With the continued rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Ganjam, the district administration has launched a new containment strategy: Mission Zero COVID-19.
The total number of active cases in the district stands at 1708 currently with the total death toll at 37.
“A decentralized strategy for the management of the COVID-19 pandemic has been devised wherein villages and wards in both rural and urban areas have been construed as the lowest unit with the objective of making Ganjam a green district with zero active cases,” said the district collector Vijaya Amruta Kulange.
All the villages in the district are to be divided in two categories – green and red villages.
The green village is one where there is no current positive case, while the red village is one where at least one positive case was detected in the last 14 days, the collector added.
“The main objective of the red village is to make the number of active cases zero and turn into a green village,” he said.
Similarly, the objective for the green village is to maintain its status by aggressively adopting the COVID-19 regulations,” he said. The number of green and red villages is being worked out, he added.
Under the Mission Zero COVID-19 Active Cases, the administration would mainly stress on active contact tracing, isolation, testing and treatment, setting up of COVID Care Homes, empowerment of COVID Care Committees (CCC) in villages, involvement of the community in COVID management, awareness and taking care of vulnerable persons like pregnant women, children and elderly persons suffering from comorbid diseases, sources said.
