Berhampur, Nov 8 (LocalWire): Parents of an Odia jawan from Hinjili in Ganjam district, who was arrested by Rajasthan CID Crime Branch on Wednesday for sharing crucial information with Pakistan-based woman ISI agent, said they were ignorant about his activities.
‘We have only come to know about his arrest in Rajasthan from television news.
We are also ignorant about his activities in his workplace,’ said Kangresh Behera, father of Vichitra Behera.
Local police today tried to gather information about the Vichitra who was arrested from Jaipur.
Kangresh, a truck driver belonging to Ankorada village under Hinjili police station said Vichitra joined in the Army in 2014.
He was posted in different places including Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan. Presently, he is posted at Pokhran near Jaisalmer. Before joining Army, Vichitra served as a fireman in the state for six months.
Vichitra, the elder son of Kangresh was supposed to reach the village on Fridayto celebrate Kartika purnami.
Before boarding the train, he and his friend was arrested by the police suspecting him of spying for the ISI after allegedly being honey-trapped by women Pakistani agents.
His family members said they did not know about the Pakistani woman with whom he allegedly had a relation and was sharing information in lieu of money.
Behera allegedly provided confidential information to the Pakistani woman agent via social media.
He also accepted money after leaking vital information.
Meanwhile, local police have started investigation about his activities in his native place.
‘Though we have not received any intimation from our counterpart Rajasthan Police about the arrest of the youth on charges of spying, we have instructed inspector-in charge of Hinjili police station to inquire about him and his family in the village,’ said SP (Ganjam) Brijesh Kumar Rai.
