Sambalpur, December 13 (LocalWire): Vehicular traffic was thrown out of gear on the very busy National Highway 55 since early morning today as a tanker carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) collided head on with a truck near Jujumura police station junction in Sambalpur district.
The head on collision had resulted in the death of both the drivers of the ill fated vehicles. Both of were charred to death.
As there is leakage of the liquefied gas from the tanker, the highway has been sealed. Prohibition has been clamped on vehicular movement.
Officials of State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited are arriving here shortly to take stock of the situation and fix it, police said
Meanwhile panic has taken firm grip along the highway side villages. Locals have been asked to keep themselves away from inflammable objects particularly stop cooking to prevent risk of fire related mishap.
Hundreds of vehicles are left stranded on the highway with the accident spot being cordoned off from safety point of view, police added.
