Keonjhar,December 11 (LocalWire): Scared of ghosts, children have fled a government-run primary school in Keonjhar district with the institution facing undeclared shutdown since past 72 hours.
With apparition fear haunting them, over 40 inmates of the residential school hostel in Bhanrapur primary school under Harichandanpur block left for safety of their respective homes.
Authorities are in a spot of bother as ghost fear has led to the school’s shutdown.
It’s out and out superstition that has instilled unknown fear among students. We have launched a drive to sensitize the parents and guardians so that they will send their wards back to school at the earliest, said District Education Officer, Kapilendra Mishra.
However as desired by guardians, the school authorities have been asked to organize a specific religious ritual that is widely prevent in tribal communities to ward off evil spirit, he said.
Three days back, some inmates developed nausea and fell unconscious. They turned hysteric. They showed abnormal behavioural instinct. As the news spread, parents and guardians rushed to the school to take their wards back home.
They were under the firm impression that ghosts have cast their evil spirit on their children. Despite best efforts by school authorities, the dogmatic parents could not be convinced.
As a result, children have left the hostel leading to the undeclared closure of the school, said school authorities.
