Berhampur, August 21 (LocalWire): Aggrieved students of the government-run Parala Maharaja Engineering College (PMEC) residing in the girls’ hostel in Chandipadara protested in front of the college office for several hours today demanding their demands to be fulfilled.
Their demands included drinking water supply through RO machine in the hostel, rectification of low voltage, establishment of placement cell and campus recruitment, float tender for mess, provide proper medical facilities to the students, maintenance of hostel and to make the campus wifi enabled.
The RO machine which was installed was not working for last few days and was not repaired despite complaints to the authorities, the students alleged.
Similarly their studies were being affected due to the low-voltage in the hostel.
As many as 220 girls from first year to final year are housed in the hostel.
‘We initiated a meeting of students and hostel superintendents to discuss the students’ demands and assured them of solving their problems,’ said college principal Rajan Kumar Swain.
