Rayagada, July 8 (LocalWire): BJD Gunpur legislator Raghunath Gomango was hailed by villagers of Kondabaridi village under Ramanguda block of the constituency, today, after he walked four kilometres to reach the inaccessible village.
The MLA along with his supporters walked through a hilly stretch to reach the village that was earlier marked as Maoist-infested and interacted with the villagers.
He assured the villagers about construction of roads and enlistment of the areas senior citizens’ names in the old age pension beneficiaries.
Villagers praised Gomango for taking the pains of walking down to listen to their plights, a first for any MLA of the constituency since Independence.
Sources said Naveen Patnaik advised all BJD MLAs to lead a simple life and treat all constituents equally and Gomango seems to practice what he has been preached.
A supporter of Gomango said the former government servant from Gudari block of Rayagada, had joined the BJD with a promise to make his constituents’ lives better, which he is trying to do.
