Berhampur, Sept 29 (LocalWire): Former minister and MLA (Gopalpur) Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy has urged the setting up of an army recruitment centre and a pre-recruitment training centre at the Gopalpur Ministry Station, where the Army Air Defence College is functioning.
These centres will encourage the local youth to join the Armed forces to serve the nation, he said in a memorandum submitted to President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday.
Panigrahy submitted the memorandum during his visit to the Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur, to attend a function of Corps of Army Air Defence.
He said a large number of people from the region have served the Armed forces while several youth were also keen to join the Armed forces.
The proposed centers will help the aspirants, he said.
At the same time, the MLA also highlighted some of the difficulties faced by the local people due to restriction imposed by the Army AD establishment and appealed to the President for his intervention to solve the problems.
Panigrahy said a committee should be formed taking the representative of the military establishment, district administration, headed by the MLA to solve the problems amicably.
He said the villagers living in villages adjoining the Army AD College faced problems in travelling as there were no alternative routes to go outside.
The Boxipalli-Golabandh and Karapalli-Golabandh roads had check posts and anyone using it needed a pass.
‘This has caused inconveniences for the public. There has been a public demand to construct a boundary wall on both the sides of the road so that they can use the road without any inconvenience as well as the security for the army establishment is also protected,’ he said.
