Bhubaneswar, November 29 (LocalWire) In a winter Bonanza for Mo Bus Travellers, the state government on Friday slashed the AC Mo bus fare by 38 per cent.
The new fares will be effective from 1st December 2019. They will be applicable till 31st January 2020, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) General Manager Dipti Mahapatro said.
“Since there have been constant requests from commuters to lower the AC bus fares, we have come up with this winter promotional offer,” she said.
“With this reduction in ticket fares, we expect to retain regular travelers as well as attract new customers,” she added. The government has also reduced the prices of the monthly passes.
She also said that currently, AC bus fares are 60-140 per cent higher than non-AC bus fares. With the revised rates coming into effect from 1st December, the difference will be only about 30 per cent.
It has also been decided to rationalize the fare structure for both AC and non-AC buses into multiples of Rs. 5 as this will make it easier for the passengers and conductors while handling money, she said.
The change in fare structure will result in a decrease of fare for 41 per cent non-AC passengers and all the AC bus passengers.
Around 9 per cent non-AC, passengers will experience an increase of Rs. 1-2, while there will be no change for 50 per cent of non-AC passengers.
The monthly Bhubaneswar non-AC pass will cost Rs. 550 instead of Rs. 600. Bhubaneswar pass for AC buses will cost Rs. 750 instead of Rs. 900. Similarly, Magic Pass Non-AC and AC will now cost Rs. 1100 and Rs. 1500 instead of Rs. 1200 and Rs. 1800 respectively.
CRUT currently operates 200 Mo buses across 21 routes in the twin city Capital Region.
