Bhubaneswar, December 28 (LocalWire) : The Odisha government on Saturday put the district collectors on alert in view of the prevailing cold wave conditions directing the district heads to ensure the safety of people from the biting cold.
Meanwhile the IMD in its latest bulletin has forecast of cold wave and cold day condition across the state for the next two to three days. The New Year will bring wet spell across Odisha from January 1 to January 3. The minimum temperature may further dip following the wet spell.
Shallow to moderate fog is likely to prevail at some places in the south Odisha districts, the bulletin said.
The minimum temperature in Odisha is likely to be below normal by two to four degrees Celsius over the next two to three days.
It will be two to four degrees Celsius below normal, the bulletin stated.
“All Collectors have been instructed to take all precautionary steps to mitigate adverse impacts of such cold wave.
All blocks, tahsils and GramPanchayats are alerted to take appropriate action in this regard.
The poor and the vulnerable who may need help for night shelters, schools, and public buildings may be opened to provide shelter in nights”, Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena said.
