Berhampur,Feb 22 (Localwire): The state government has accepted an old demand of the Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) for timely promotions and allowances of eligible doctors under a new scheme, an official said on Friday.
OMSA had been demanding the implementation of the Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme for many years. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the new scheme on Wednesday.
As per the scheme, all medical officers would now get three assured promotions after completing 7, 14 and 21 years of continuous service, people privy of the development said.
“We have acepted the state government’s decision,” said OMSA president Nirakar Bhatt, who led the delegation for the meeting with the CM here on Thursday. Around 2,000 of the total 3,600 doctors in the state would be immediately benefitted under the new scheme, he said.
The central government and some 15 state governments have already implemented the DACP scheme for its employees since 2008.
Bhatt said DACP would help Odisha doctors to get their due promotions and allowances on time and at par with the central government employees.
