Bhubaneswar, April 16 (Local Wire): The state government has now clarified why they do not discharge the COVID 19 patients as soon as their test reports come negative.
The health officials said that it is because of their other existing diseases.
“Around 80 per cent of the COVID patients in the state are asymptomatic.
When the results of some of them come negative, hinting at recovery we don’t instantly discharge all of them,” said Salini Pandit, Mission Director, Odisha National Health Mission (NHM).
She said that some of them suffer from other diseases for which they are treated at the hospital before being discharged.
According to norms testing of samples twice in 24 hours and their subsequent negative reports pave way for declaring a patient as recovered.
The government also said that after the patients are declared negative they are also asked to remain in 14 days of extended quarantine to keep any threats at bay.
