Bhubaneswar, Oct 29 (LocalWire): The sportspersons living in government-run sports hostels will now receive enhanced monthly allowance.
This was announced by the state government today.
The monthly allowance of girls living in sports hostels has been enhanced to Rs 500 while the boys staying in sports hostel will now receive Rs 300 a month as allowance, according to a release by the Chief Minister’s Office.
All the sportspersons participating in national-level competitions outside the state will be given a daily allowance of Rs 300.
Sportspersons winning gold at national level competitions will get a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for a year.
For silver and bronze medal winners, the incentive will be Rs 500 and Rs 300 respectively.
The sports hostel students will get this incentive in addition to their monthly allowance.
If the medal winner creates a national record which is not bettered for a year, then the record holder will get an additional Rs 5000 monthly allowance for that year.
Sportspersons selected in the national teams will get a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for a year, the release said.
Chief Minister announced a number of incentives for sportspersons with an objective to fulfill their needs and create enough opportunity for excellence, it added.
