Bhubaneswar, Sept 2 (LocalWire): The women and child development and Mission Shakti wing of the government claimed to have streamlined the Take Home Ration earmarked for Anganwadi centres.
State level senior officers of the two departments have been issued directives to personally supervise the distribution of ‘chhatua’ (a flour prepared from mixture of ground pulses and cereals), said department officials.
As allegations of distribution of substandard chhatua poured in from the beneficiaries, initiative has been taken to maintain transparency and quality of the nutritious supplement provided to pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, infants below three years and malnourished children, said officials.
As per the revised guidelines, it has now been decided to distribute chhatua to beneficiaries on the first day of every month.
Accordingly, yesterday chhatua was distributed across the state in the presence of members of Mother committee, Janch (inquiry) committee and supervising officers.
District level officers and ICDS functionaries have been deputed by district Collectors to visit AWCs in their respective districts and supervise the distribution process.
The focus of THR management is to streamline supply chain from procurement to distribution level. Under THR scheme, chhatua, laddu (nutritious sweet), dry ration and eggs are being distributed to the beneficiaries, the officials added.
