Bhubaneswar, July 3 (LocalWire): The State government has now planned to start plasma therapy in the state after seeing its success and popularity in other Indian states.
A high level meeting held under the chairmanship of health minister Naba Kishore Das has now decided to experiment with the idea which is used to treat the critical Coronavirus patients by transfusing the plasma from the recovered patients.
The health minister has directed the officials to constitute a panel to come out with a treatment plan and guidelines which can govern the whole situation.
At the nascent stage it has been decided that the treatment could be first introduced in SCB Medical College and Aswhini Hospital for trial.
The government has also been planning to set up plasma donation banks to collect the plasma from recovered patients.
The treatment emanates from the fact that the antibodies produced in the recovered patients (present in the plasma) can be used in critically ill patients to fight the disease.
