Bhubneswar, April 21 (Local Wire): Days after the announcement of exempting collection and sales of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) during the lockdown, the SC and ST Department on Monday notified its procurement at Minimum Support Price (MSP).
In a letter to the Collectors, the department has asked them to ensure procurement of MFP from tribal community and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers at MSP who are dependent on the forest produce for their livelihood.
“…the Collectors may facilitate the free movement of transport for the purpose-collection, harvesting and processing of MFP by tribal communities and other movement of forest dwellers,” the letter read.
The Collectors have now asked procurement agencies like OSFDC (Orissa Scheduled caste and Scheduled Tribe Development Finance Corporation Limited) and TDCC (Tribal Development Cooperative Corporation) to procure the MFPs at MSP set by the government.
It has also asked them to ensure transportation of these products till the storage godowns and cold storages in a hassle free environment.
