Bhubaneswar, Dec 13 (LocalWire): The state government has chalked out a comprehensive development plan for Cuttack, Odisha’s erstwhile capital, by building a modern satellite township on the outskirts of the city.
As part of government’s committed resolve to enhance infrastructure facilities, an integrated housing colony will come up at the patch of land between Balijatra ground and Hadiapatha, the Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena told newsmen here today.
The proposed project will come up at the 400-acre stretch of government land. The city has developed urban settlement colonies built under the stewardship of government-run Cuttack Development Authority (CDA). The new satellite town will be modern in design and shape than the other CDA colonies, the minister said.
It will be in line with modern urban colonies that have come at Bhubaneswar. It will have sports and water sports complexes besides sewerage and drainage facilities to prevent waterlogging.
A second campus of SCB Medical College and Hospital is being planned at the new satellite township.
As the location of the new township is close to Mahanadi riverbed, the government will seek mandatory clearance from the National Green Tribunal as a prelude to implementing the ambitious urban housing project, Jena concluded.
