Bhubaneswar, July 29 (LocalWire): The state government has now been mulling to open new toll gates on State Highways to boost revenue collections.
A communication into this regard has been made from the Works Department to the Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OB&CC).
The latter was asked to identify stretches on the state highways where new toll gates could be opened.
The OB&CC meanwhile has identified a total of 61 stretches in different areas of the state where the new toll gates could be established.
More scrutiny is also on to identify other areas.
The government in their official correspondences claim that the state has improved the state highways substantially to double land standards through external borrowing from financial institutions like the World Bank, NABARD and others.
Some of the proposed state highways under consideration for toll collection included-Cuttack-Chandbali Road, Pulnakhara Niali to Madhab Road, Angul to Maidharpur road, Bhadrak to Chandabali road, Sambalpur to Sonepur road among others.
