Bhubaneswar, April 22 (Local Wire): The state government on Wednesday announced the detailed plan for the return of close to 7.5 lakh Odia workers staying outside the state.
Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Secretary DK Singh said that the state has estimated the numbers of workers outside the state at 7.5 lakh and has made the plans of their return accordingly.
“Their registration will open from April 24 and will be mandatory. No returnee will be allowed to go directly to their homes.
They will have to inform the government about their return through registration,” he said.
He also said that the panchayat nodal officer will take the incoming workers to the nearest quarantine centres where they will be examined by doctors and will spend 14 days before being allowed to go home.
Singh said that any positive case found will be shifted to the nearest hospital. Government claims that it is now ready with 2 lakh beds for quarantine while others are been worked out.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is said to have discussed the issue with the sarpanchs through a video conferencing on Wednesday.
