Berhampur, March 20 (Localwire): The state government in an attempt to show ‘zero tolerance’ towards corruption cases has now suspended an engineer accused of corruption and languishing in jail.
The under radar engineer worked as the Superintending Engineer, Southern (road and building) Circle in Berhampur.
The culprit named Binod Kumar Padhy, is now in jail following the arrest by the vigilance department on charges of possession of ill gotten properties.
The suspension was effected from March 4, the date of his detention by the vigilance sleuths, an office order of the works department issued on Wednesday said.
Another engineer named Ashok Kumar Padhi, National High circle (south) Berhampur will take up the additional charge of SE, Southern Circle vacated by the tainted officer.
Padhy was arrested after the vigilance sleuths found disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 3.96-crore against the names of his family members and himself.
The erring engineer failed to satisfy the vigilance department about the sources of such properties.
