Berhampur, Oct 22 (LocalWire): The Gram Rojogar Sahayak in Ghantapada gram panchayat under Boudh district’s Kantamal block has been arrested by the vigilance sleuths today for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person in the panchayat office.
Pandav Mahal demanded money from the complainant to register his name online and to get the work order early in his favour for a house under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Grameen), said Vigilance SP (Berhampur) Mayadhar Swain.
The accused was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption officials while he was takin the money from the complainant. The amount was seized from him, Swain said.
A case was registered against Mahal and inquiry as on, the Vigilance SP added.
Mahal’s office and residents have been raided after his arrest. The details of from the houses are yet to be assessed, Swain said.
