Berhampur, March 26 (LocalWire): The BJP state vice president and senior advocate of the high court Pitambar Acharya filed his nomination for Hinjili Assembly segment on Wednesday before the returning officer at Chhatrapur. He was accompanied by Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan and party leader Damodar Rout.
‘Acharya will raise several issues which the chief minister has to answer,’ said Pradhan. ‘I think our candidate will win since Hinjili has been neglected by Naveen Patnaik during his 19- year-rule,’ he added.
After filing the nomination, Acharya reiterated Pradhan and said ‘BJD neglected all sections of people in Hinjili. The youth migrated to Surat to eke out a living but the chief minister never tried to make Hinjili into another Surat to try and bring them back.’
Acharya said Patnaik was contesting from Bijepur since he was afraid he would lose to him in Hinjili. Brimming with confidence, he said ‘When Patnaik contested from Hinjili, he too, was new to the constituency, just like me. His only identity then was that he was the son of Biju Patnaik.’
Acharya played the poor versus rich card and said he belonged to a poor family and the fight would be between the poor and the rich.
BJD’s Ganjam district president Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy said, ‘the people of Hinjli love their chief minister. That’s why the margin of his win increases each election. We hope the chief minister will win from this seat with a record margin.’
Congress has also fielded an advocate, Sambhu Nath Panigrahy, against the chief minister who, too, filed his nomination today.
