Berhampur, May 14 (LocalWire): The government railway police on Tuesday arrested two people and seized around 28 kg ganja worth over Rs one lakh from Berhampur Railway Station.
The arrested were identified as Bishal Paik and S.Sumanta Pani of Ramagada and Ranalai under Gajapati district’s Adava and
R Udayagiri police station limits, police said.
The duo was transporting the contraband in airbags from Gajapati district to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, said inspector in charge, GRP Berhampur, PC Rout.
Police caught the two after a tip off while they were waiting for a Visakhapatnam train. During checking, police found the narcotic substances, Rout said.
Since Berhampur station is considered the transit point of ganja smugglers, they will intensify patrolling to crackdown smuggling of contraband, police said.
