Bhubaneswar, September 1 (LocalWire) Those violating road safety and traffic rules will have to cough up increased penalties.
The amended of rules of motor vehicles (amendment) act, 2019 came into force today.
The penalties on drunken driving, driving without license, helmetless driving, over-speeding, overloading, reckless driving has been hiked manifold as per the amended act to ensure road safety and curb road accident fatalities, officials said.
For simple traffic violation, one will have to pay Rs 500 as against Rs 100 that was being levied earlier.
The dangerous driving invited Rs 1,000 penalty earlier. Now it is up by five times.
Similarly, the penalty on all sorts of offences has been increased manifold.
The abetting the offence will be punishable under sections 184, 185 and 186 of the amended act provisions.
