Bhubnaeswar, June 24 (LocalWire): A female Himalayan Black Bear named Kulu yesterday died at the Nandankanan Zoological Park due to Tuberculosis (TB) infection, zoo authorities said.
It is said that the bear was placed in an enclosure and was sick for a few days.
She was said to be undergoing treatment under the monitoring of the zoo authorities. She has been sick since May 17.
“The bear was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. A team from the OUAT visited the zoo and treated the bear.
As she did not respond to the treatment her condition worsened and she succumbed to the infection at 3:03 yesterday, Nandankanan Deputy Director Jayant Das said.
The bear was born in 1995. The latest statistics claim that the zoo has now five bears left for the visitors to see.
