Bhubaneswar, December 9 (LocalWire): Noted Hindi poet Viswanath Prasad Tiwari will be honoured with the prestigious Gangadhar National Award on the 53rd Foundation Day celebrations of the Sambalpur University.
The award, named after renowned poet Gangadhar Meher carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation.
Tiwari, who has served as the president of Sahitya Academy from 2013-17, is the founder-editor of the quarterly magazine Dastavej published from Gorakhpur.
He has several publications to his credit, including Adhunik Hindi Kavita, Rachana ke Sarokar, Kavita Kya Hai, Alochna ke Hashiye per, Saath Chalte Hue, Aakhar Anant, Fir bhi Kuch Rah Jayega, and Antheen Aakash.
He is a recipient of Vyas Samman in 2011 and has been conferred several other awards, including the Pushkin Award in Russia, Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityayan Award by Central Institute of Hindi, and Sahitya Bhushan Samman of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan.
