Berhampur, August 9 (LocalWire): A 58-year old lecturer of Debasthan Mahavidyalaya, Tentualia Sasan in Ganjam district allegedly committed suicide at Ududa village under Bhanjangar police station limits today.
This is the second incident in two days that lecturers hung themselves.
The deceased identified as Prabhakar Mohapatra was acting-in-charge principal of the college and a lecturer of History. He committed suicide by hanging in the well, located behind his house.
He went to the bathroom early in the morning but when he didn’t return even after sometime, his wife went to call him. She found him hanging in the well. He was rushed to the sub divisional hospital, Bhanjangara, where doctors declared
The deceased was living with his wife in the rented house while his two children lived in Bhanjanagar, where they are studying, police said.
Though the exact reason for suicide was not known, police, however, suspected he might have taken the extreme step as he was suffering from multiple diseases.
‘Due to unbearable pain in the body, he might have committed suicide,’ police said.
‘We have registered an unnatural death case at Belaguntha outpost and launched an investigation,’ said officer in charge of the outpost Prakash Kumar Sahu.
