Bhubaneswar, Sept 10 (LocalWire): In a major crackdown on drug peddling, Rs 30 lakh-worth brown sugar was seized today in a joint raid by Bhubaneswar special squad and Khandagiri police at Kalingangar locality on the outskirts of the city.
The joint squad intercepted drug peddler Santosh Kumar Panda, suspected to be the kingpin of an inter-state drugs racket after a tip-off.
Panda, who hails from Bidyadharpur village in Puri district, is a historysheeter and police found 300 grams brown sugar in his possession.
The seized contraband has sent to the state drugs control laboratory for quality testing, said officials.
The incriminating link of the accused with drug peddlers active in other states is being looked in to.
He is being interrogated and will be forwarded to court later under Section 21 C of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, police added.
