Berhampur, Nov 29 (LocalWire) A 26-year old man has started cycling from his hometown in Ganjam district to Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar to spread awareness about the ongoing Men’s Hockey World Cup (HWC) among youngsters.
Rajiv Lochan Gouda of Karnoli, near Aska has also planned to cycle from Kalinga Stadium to Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, covering over 200-km during the course of his bicycle expedition.
Aska Block Development Officer (BDO) Gayatri Dutta Nayak flagged off Gouda’s cycle expedition from Biju Patnaik Chhaka, while several sports persons and officials of Ganjam District Judo Association were present at the event.
Gouda, who works as a contractual labourer in a private construction company here, said through his bicycle expedition, he wants to thank Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik for conducting such a mega International event.
“My aim is to create awareness in youngsters about the hockey tournament, to wish success to the India team and also to thank the CM for conducting such an event,” said Gouda, one of the members of District Judo Association.
During the course of his expedition, he is stopping at crowded places to tell people about hockey and the World Cup.
Earlier in May 13, Gouda cycled from Silk City to Bhubaneswar to create awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the flagship cleanliness campaign of the central government.
He covered over 200-km from Silk City to the state capital within five to six hours.
He participated in the 225-km category of National Bicycle Racing
competition held in Chennai on October 21.
Gouda will also participate in the National Cycle Racing competition to be held in Chennai on December 9.
